I've been working on character designs for a friend.
Sorry, no colour this week!
Mayaa - happy with her design
Blake - needs work, I like his hair though
Early try at Blake, bleah anatomy

Pullip Domination (and Customisation)

Well, I've successfully turned a close friend of mine into a Pullip fan too. I had an inkling that she'd like them actually, and she berated me for not telling her sooner, haha~
She visited me last week and was so impressed with my Bonita (and browsing through the doll guidebook) that I got a message from her that night saying she'd pre-ordered Alice Du Jardin! XD
Pullip Alice du Jardin
She also really adores Dal Tina, and thought she purchased one on ebay for amazingly cheap, without realising she'd ordered the Little Dal + version, not the full size doll.
Little Dal + Tina
So once she realised her mistake she went to PullipStyle (sorry Tina's unlisted atm so no link) and ordered the full size Tina there (which turned out to be their last one!).
The real Dal Tina
She asked me if I'd like the Little Tina and I told her I'd be happy to buy her. :)
I've been wanting to play around with customising Pullips (but no way would I lay a hand on my Bonita!), and had been sorely tempted to try the technique of placing a Little Pullip head onto an Obitsu body (23cm I'm thinking). I had actually considered this as a way to save money before I got Bonita.
If you're confused, check out this great tutorial on Flickr by NK☺.
Well, now I have an excuse to try it! Haha!

Pullip Bonita Arrives!

My new Pullip Bonita
My first Pullip doll arrived all brand-new early on Valentines Day morning! Appropriate because I have quickly fallen in love with her~ ♥
She's sitting on my crochet books, haha
I wouldn't have ordered her if I hadn't gotten the amazing deal that I did (thank you eBay and the soaring Aussie dollar).
But once I opened the package I was so beyond happy that I ordered her! ♥  Her hair is so silky, the details in her outfit are amazing, and, you can't see it well in the photos, but her eyes are a translucent purple with sparkles in them. ♥♥♥
She even came with the official Pullip Complete Style guide, and a bag.

Sew-a-Kitty

I finally completed the cute kitty sewing kit I blogged about a while ago:
aka Sewing for dummies
It was so fun, and really took no time at all to do.
Happily, there were plenty of materials provided
It could not have been simpler, and being a total beginner, I actually learned some things, haha~
Although I did use my own wool/darning needle instead of the plastic monstrosity that was provided.
I feel an embarrassing swell of pride and 'Awwww'
He is actually quite fat!
All in all, a good quality kit - I think kids would really enjoy it.
If you're interested, the company that produces it is called Grant Studios. They have a tonne more really cute little kits like this, as well as scrap-booking/paper-craft supplies.

Weekly Sketches 6

I keep seeing roller-skaters lately

Another Ami Unicorn

I made another Ami Unicorn for my sister's birthday this Monday just passed. It was a very close call, he actually didn't have his ruffles yet when I gave him to her!
He's about 14cm tall
Out of curiosity, I kept a record of how long I spent making him: 18 and a half hours total, or thereabouts.
His mane took longer than expected
Phew, thankfully, she's very happy with him. And I am too~ ♥
I've improved at adding facial details, yay!
So now my unicorn has a friend! We've taken to calling the little guy with his bright orange colour-scheme the 'Fluro-corn'.
His mane sticks out so much, he looks like a bit of a punk!
Again, the pattern is here, by Dawn Toussaint. Make one for yourself! ♥

Why I wait for Discounts

I popped into my local Lincraft yesterday looking for a few specifics, and walked out with a couple of extra bargains, haha~
Discount goodies!
'Xyron' products were discounted, so I finally decided to buy a sticker maker (that's the giant plastic 'X'). Also picked up a hole punch I've been needing in order to hang-up my wall calendar.
I was also happy to see that with the Christmas stock put away for another year, the yarn selection has grown. I think this slightly 'furry' yarn will make a nice bear or bunny ami:
Unfortunately, I can't read this, haha
All books were half-price - these two were only $4 each!
If you're a crochet beginner, I would recommend this
Very informative, friendly and fun
I think this will prove useful in future
Includes all the basics, so good for me!
I've been busily crocheting a present his week, so I haven't had a chance to make my cat yet.
