V-Stitch Fingerless Gloves

This is a really sweet pattern for fingerless gloves, designed by Sinjah (aka Daphne Bekiari) and shared on her blog.
The colours are nicer irl
The pattern is very simple to follow and works up quickly. I would have finished them in a single morning, but I ran out of yarn! orz
The yarn I used is Lincraft Celtic, which is a wool,  mohair, acrylic blend. So my gloves are very soft on the skin~ ♥
Also, I used a 5mm hook (larger than the pattern calls for), because I tend towards a very tight tension.
Now I'm going to make a pair for my sister too, since winter is coming in our hemisphere.

I've also started on an adorable pattern for a beret - but I love all the patterns by this particular studio~
I'm graduating from an interest in using yarn purely for toy making, to actual clothing making.
I also want to learn to knit soon.

Weekly Sketches 16

Just scribbled this in response to a friend on Deviantart. ^_^
Tales of Symphonia
I also got to talking with my good irl friend and generated some ideas for character concepts. But then I only drew this, ha!
Caldron - he's fishy
I need to look at more fish for ideas.

My sister and I baked ANZAC biscuits today, and they turned out suitably delicious.
I've also been crocheting a pair of gloves; I would have finished them in a single morning except I ran out of yarn!

First Amigurumi Doll

I've wanted to make an Ami doll (literally a doll, not an animal/etc) ever since I got into the craft.
And now finally, some months later, here's the prototype!
What a pose
She's really simple. I drew some sketches, measured them, then did a little maths to scale to the size I wanted.
She's approximately 21cm tall
I bought a bag of tiny bows at the Craft and Sewing Fair I went to a fortnight ago. So adding those bows to her dress was as easy as sewing them on. I'm bad at tying bows!
The eyes are 2-strands embroidery thread on felt.
With a hair bun at the back
One of the things I love most about making Amis, is the moment when you've made all the limbs, and get to put everything together, and you see your creation really take shape. ♥
She's quite tiny
I'm definitely going to make more dolls. I kept notes while working on her, so I have an idea of where I want to make adjustments to the design in future. I want to make even taller dolls! And weighted limbs would also be nice.
Zzzzzzz
So this is the ami family that now occupies my desk. ♥ I'll work to make this family grow, haha!

Weekly Sketches 14

After a lacklustre start, I worked through and got some good sketches out this week.
Tales of Graces f - Sophie
The above I submitted to a contest on Friday (the one at Siliconera I mentioned previously).
So I started scribbling some action shots of the heroines from the Tales games I've played.
Tales of Graces f - Cheria

Tales of Vesperia - Estelle

Tales of Symphonia 2 - Marta (Radiant Roar!)
I mean to draw Colette, Tear and Mint too. Actually, I want to swap their costumes around for fun!
Tales of Symphonia 2 - Aqua and Richter
The last above  is what broke my art block. Those two are kind of my default when I'm mindlessly drawing (don't ask, I don't know... well, that's a lie, haha). Though I find myself drawing Sophie a lot lately.
I always draw Richter ridiculously tall, but then I wonder if you've ever read a manga called Skip Beat? Ren's legs go on forever. *not a complaint*

Anyway, I finished the new ami doll I was working on, so I'll post up some photos.
Actually, there's a character I want to make a doll of next, hehe~ ♥

Happy Easter! Save the Bilby!

Weekly Sketches 13

Tales of Graces - Sophie
I scribbled this in the Muro drawing application on Deviantart.com. It's become quite a versatile program - I remember trying it when it first came online, and finding it a bit irritating. Now though, it's thoroughly enjoyable to paint in.

Sooo anyway, I ordered a copy of Tales of Graces f online when it was released in America mid March, and it finally arrived in the mail on Monday! ♥ Hence the drawing of the heroine Sophie. Expect more of this while I'm playing it, haha~
Actually, there's a contest on Siliconera to win a copy of the game signed by Hideo Baba, so I'm going to draw something to enter. *crosses fingers*

And in other news, I picked up my new glasses last Tuesday, so I can see again! Hooray! I really hadn't realised just how bad my sight was getting (I'm short-sighted). *sigh*
